A special performance by activist, cultural leader, songwriter, dancer, choreographer and storyteller - Nobuko Miyamoto, who is active in the Asian American and BIPOC communities in Los Angeles.
The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) is sponsoring this event on Saturday, August 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Presidio Theatre, 99 Moraga Avenue in San Francisco. Nobuko's performance will trace her roots from being incarcerated as a child during WWII with 120,000 other Japanese Americans, to her dance and music career on Broadway and Hollywood, to her NY days as an activist and singer of Asian American folk songs. and to being a cultural and social justice activist across BIPOC communities.
Nobuko will share her life through multi-ethnic music and storytelling. Her message is as relevant today as it was when she started her journey many years ago by always addressing issues such as race, gender, multiculturalism and climate change.
